Haiti - Elections : The Economic Forum worried, launch an appeal...

Friday in a press release, Gregory Brandt, Coordinator of the Private Sector Economic Forum, expresses on behalf of the Board, his deep concern face the recent events affecting the national life and social Peace.

"The Forum reiterates its commitment for the respect of the Constitution and laws of the Republic and urges ALL actors and participants in electoral process, to respect the democratic principles.

The Forum launches a solemn appeal to all parties involved in the ongoing process to respect the laws in force and invites the population to calm and respect for democratic principles. The renewal of elected of political power must be done peacefully through the ballot box.

To preserve and strengthen democracy in our country, the Forum also urges the responsible authorities to take all measures necessary to ensure the legitimacy of the electoral process and help restore peace. The Forum requests in a special way to the CEP, to ensure together with the two candidates qualified for the second round of presidential elections, that all the necessary guarantees required be put in place so that the electoral processlead to a credible result, that do not suffer any legitimacy deficit."
