Haiti - Social : Increase of 47% of voluntary returns from DR (November 2015)

9,012 Haitians living in irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic (3,191 returnees and 5,821 voluntary returns) have returned to Haiti in November 2015. Of this total, 174 unaccompanied minors were identified among those returned in Haiti. Most of these children were living in Las Matas, Santo Domingo, Santiago and to San Juan de la Maguana. No special treatment they have been granted by Dominican immigration authorities. Note that the number of Haitians repatriated by Dominican immigration authorities was down for the month of November 3,191 persons (-25%) against 4,344 people in October 2015. The majority of the returnees were transported to three official border points : Malpasse/Jimani, Belladère/Elias Piña et Ouanaminthe/Dajbón.

By cons it is observed in November a significant increase in voluntary returns 5,821 (+ 47%) against 3,053 in October 2015.

These collected data come from a joint monitoring work from three human rights organizations working at the border : the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GARR), the Jesuit Service for Migrants (SJM), the Border Network Jeannot Success (RFJS) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
