Haiti - Justice : More than 80 judges have already obtained the renewal of their mandates 09/12/2015 11:52:40
Tuesday Me Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Me Jules Cantave, the President of the Supreme Court and of Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) and the Bâtonnier Me Stanley Gaston of the Bar of Port-au-Prince and the new President of the Federation of Bar Associations of Haiti (FBH) held an important working meeting. According to the Minister Casimir, this meeting allowed the new Bâtonnier to submit the concerns of lawyers of his bar on the functioning of the judiciary. He stressed the importance of synergy between the different actors of justice, including judges represented at the meeting by the President of CSPJ, the lawyers represented by the Bâtonnier and porsecutions that fall under the Ministry of Justice. The three authorities have committed to strengthen their relations and to contribute to the understanding among lawyers, judges and parquetiers. Me Stanley Gaston took the opportunity to remind that the FBH had just formed a commission to analyze the Criminal Procedure Code draft prepared by the Presidential Commission for the Reform of Law and Justice https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15467-haiti-justice-the-draft-of-the-new-code-of-criminal-procedure-is-ready.html For his part, Me Jules Cantave announced that 80 judges have already obtained the renewal of their mandates thanks to the good collaboration between the CSPJ and the Ministry of Justice. Stating that about twenty cases are currently being analyzed, bringing to 100 the number of magistrates who received the renewal of their mandates.
