Haiti - Economy : Laurent Lamothe engages in the economic development of emerging countries

Founded in July 2015 by the former Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister, Laurent Salvador Lamothe, LSL World Initiative (LSLWI) is a leading global organisation dedicated to the socio-economic development and empowerment of emerging countries.

Lamothe, a visionary leader, driven by a deep sense of global social responsibility, founded LSLWI to work with governments to provide solutions for them to implement their own funding mechanisms to:

- Achieve economic self-sufficiency

- Provide direct responses to their specific development needs

- Spur economic development

- Achieve sustainable development

Through a multi-partnership approach, revenue generated through innovative financing strategies can be used to fund vital development programmes in health, education and infrastructure and encourage economic self-sufficiency in emerging markets.

Video on LSL World Initiative :

Finding new revenue streams and establishing the legal framework for the micro-surcharges represents the first step (resource mobilisation).

The second step (revenue assurance) involves collecting and protecting those revenues in a transparent and efficient manner. Collecting micro-surcharges and contributions from enormous volumes of transactions involves complex data collection and processing systems. It also involves fraud management systems to prevent fraudsters from avoiding the new micro-surcharges or taking advantage of them through grey markets to line their own pockets. LSLWI’s technology partners have implemented cost-effective data and fraud management systems in many developing countries.

The last step is using the revenues for sustainable socio-economic development (revenue utilisation). Through LSL World Initiative’s innovative financing for development approach, governments are assisted to achieve their development goals in line with their own specific national priorities and needs. This is a powerful targeted approach.

A thought leader in health, education, sustainable development and emerging markets, Lamothe’s approach is pragmatic, creative and far-sighted. Given the powerful and positive social transformation his entrepreneurial and visionary initiatives have brought about, he is now working to replicate his successful model on a global scale through LSL World Initiative.
