Haiti - FLASH : The Philippine government banned the deployment of its expatriates in Haiti 14/12/2015 08:58:27
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) an agency of the Philippine government ordered under the law of the Ministry of Labour and Employment of this country, a temporary ban on the deployment of Filipino workers expatriates abroad in countries identified as "non-compliant" or "dangerous". Hans Cacdac, the Head of the POEA, said the ban took effect immediately and concernes Haiti, Cuba, Afghanistan, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Somalia and Zimbabwe. Stating that under the law, the POEA can only allow the deployment of OFWs, to countries certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as being safe country and able to provide protection to Filipino workers. According to Hans Cacdac, a total of 194 countries have been certified for compliance with provisions of the amended Act on migrant workers. Clarification : According to a clarification made by the POEA this Monday, to the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the deployment ban to 9 countries experiencing conflict remains, and that only those working for multinational companies are allowed to re-enter them.
