Haiti - News : Electoral Zapping...
New statement of the US Ambassador
Monday, US Ambassador accredited to Haiti Mulrean Peter stated again, "We do not support a particular candidate or political party. We support the democratic development of Haiti. Haiti can not afford to remain indefinitely in this political impasse. Haiti needs a government and an elected parliament to deal with several pressing challenges," and called on Haitian political actors to work towards compliance with the constitutional deadlines of 11 January and 7 February 2016. According to him "nothing prevents compliance with scheduled dates for the inauguration of Parliament and of Head of State and Parliament may sit 11 January. "

Latest date for the 2nd round, January 17, 2016, according to Evans Paul
"The latest date that Haiti to hold the second round of presidential elections posponed to meet the constitutional requirements of handover is January 17," said Prime Minister Evans Paul, who was in Florida to attend the funeral of Haitian journalist Pharès Duverné https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16166-haiti-social-evans-paul-at-the-funeral-of-journalist-phares-duverne.html , adding "[...] Meeting that deadline depends heavily on whether the Electoral Evaluation Commission is able to find a way out of the political impasse [...] We hope this Commission will shed light to allow the country to regain its political balance [...]"

Michel Martelly minimizes the criticism on the electoral process
During an interview with The Associated Press, Michel Martelly stated about the election results "We feel confident enough that what happened the first time will happen again because it's the vote of the people [...] » The Head of State believes that "critics have wildly exaggerated the extent of irregularities on October 25 [...] » pointing out that overall, the election was remarkably "free and fair". He explained that the opposition was so troubled that Jovenel Moïse is the first, that they began to denounce the elections as a parody of democracy "It looked like the potential winner was not what the opposition expected, so the same minute, the same night, they started building that perception."

Response from OPL externe to US Ambassador
In a statement signed by Oslaude Rousseau, the person responsible for External Communications of OPL (Miami), protests against the inappropriate statements and interference of the US Ambassador in Haiti.

"[...] Contrary to the US position, the Haitian people does not have any problem of date for the inauguration of the elected or the official announcement of the results [...] It just wants a system that works with leaders it has chosen through the ballot box and not imposed by the international community and embassies [...]

The Embassy of the United States and other members of the international community involved in the internal politics of the country, have contributed to building this electoral impasse. It returns now, and only to Haitians, through the establishment of the 'Commission of Verification and Transparency of Popular Vote' to decide the future of the electoral process [...]"
