«We are moving toward a selection, not an election» dixit Célestin

"We are moving toward a selection, not an election," Jude Célestin said Saturday in his political office of Port-au-Prince, while he refuses in the media and unofficially (having never officially file a withdrawal of his candidacy) participate in the second round with Jovenel Moïse.

Also he affirms that his party will not send a representative to the polling stations saying "This crisis can be resolved in a good way [...] But if it continues, it can get worse."

The CEP wrote to the two candidates

The Provisional Electoral Council, in a letter addressed to each of the two candidates in the presidential election of January 24, in order to implement the recommendation of the Independent Electoral Commission of Evaluation "to strengthen the supervision system, of control and sanction on all the machinery of the electoral machine and in all phases of the process..." announces that each presidential candidate will have to designate: 1- Two persons to represent them at the cell of reception of the minutes at CTV ; 2- Two lawyers to assist to the work of the Legal Control Unit when analyzing the said minutes.

The name and photo of Jude Célestin, will be on the ballot

Officials of the Electoral Council, confirm that the name and photo of Jude Célestin, will appear on the ballots January 24 because the candidate Jude Célestin, has never formally withdraw from the electoral race, as provided in the electoral Decree. For his part, Jude Célestin proclaims to anyone who will listen that the CEP has no right to use his name and photo without his authorization, what of course is false since he is officially a presidential candidate in the second round.

Last sensitive materials, have arrived

The last sensitive materials for the 2nd round of presidential elections, scheduled for January 24, 2016 are arriving in Haiti. Information confirmed Sunday by the Electoral Council.

Financing for campaigns

Sunday the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) reminded the political parties and groups, as part of the subsidy of the electoral campaign for the presidential and legislative elections of January 24, 2016, that the funding forms are available at the Legal Affairs Directorate, located Route de Frères , at number 133. The Council invites the legal representatives of political parties and groups or persons appointed for that purpose, provided with their national identification card, to go to the above address in order to fulfill the said forms.
