Wednesday, at less than 5 days from the date scheduled for the second round of presidential elections and by-legislative elections, Jovenel Moïse, the presidential candidate under the banner of the Party Haitian Tèt Kale (PHTK) issued a message to the Nation :

konpatriyòt Ayisyèn isit kou lòt bò dlo,

mèdam e mesye,

Jodi a mwen kwè li enpòtan anpil, kòm kandida pou pòs Prezidan Repiblik d’Ayiti, pou’m pale avèk tout pitit peyi a, paske chak sitwayen, kelkeswa kote li ye, li genyen mo pal pou’l di nan zafè peyi’l. Se pou tèt sa, mwen jije li nesesè pou’m fè yon ti pale avèk nou, paske peyi nou an, nasyon nou an genyen yon gwo listwa e nou se yon gwo pèp. My dear compatriots from the inside and the Diaspora, the elections of 24 January 2016 is crucial for our country, because they offer us the opportunity to strengthen our values of freedom, equality and fraternity by implementing innovative projects to influence the country's problems.

Today, Haiti is at a crossroads where the need to strengthen the republican institutions is more than ever necessary; We must have a responsible behavior face the needs of the country vis-à-vis the world events. Haiti has a long history, we have made great achievements. Our revolution leading to national independence in 1804 gave substance to the concept of liberty, we participated in the radiation of ideas of progress and humanity. We put our footprints on the fate of the civilized world. My fellow compatriots, our generation has the duty to continue the civilizing work of the founding fathers of our country.

The idea that I have of representative democracy is to allow citizens regardless of their level of education, social origin, religion and gender to participate in an open election in compliance with the law to elect its leaders.

The second round of elections on January 24 was a turning point for the rescue of republican institutions and for the consolidation of democracy in Haiti.

Democrats in my country, in this beginning of year 2016, it is imperative to come together to build a better future for these young people who expect a lot from us. We need the passion and skill of all citizens regardless of their origin and political affiliation to develop Haiti. It is for me an essential criterion to be taken into account in the formation of a new government.

My dear compatriots, so many of you to express your conviction, your will, your hope in a democratic Haiti that is reconciled with itself, and that allows its son to flourish and realize their projects. This page of history, I invite you to write it together, I invite you to take an active part in the affairs of your country.

Because I am optimistic by nature and an agent of change, I believe it is my responsibility to participate in these elections to embody hope and restore confidence to our citizens.

If the people, through its vote, entrusted me with the destiny of the country, to continue, improve and innovate, I want to be the President of the Republic that meets the aspirations of the people, for sound management of public affairs, and that favors transparency and listening.

If the people, through its vote, entrusted me with the destiny of the country, I pledge to establish a consultation framework allowing the people to dialogue with state officials on the progress of projects on governance and the functioning of institutions. Consultation with actors of national life is important for a fruitful dialogue with the various political, social, religious and economic of the country.

I want to contribute, by thus to the strengthening of democratic achievements of the people by developing a culture of transparency in the management of public affairs and the commitment to an open and collaborative dialogue on economic choices that will lead to the nation's progress.

Haitians, if the people, through its vote, entrusted me with the destiny of the country, my Administration will take all measures to ensure the participation of women in national affairs. It is the responsibility of actors and decision makers of today to protect the country and enrich the heritage that our ancestors bequeathed us to the benefit of future generations. We must put aside our sterile divisions and work for a new Haiti to allow our children to build a future at the height of their hopes and dreams in a stable and secure country.

By duty, by responsibility, by dignity, by pride, by experience of management of organizations and men, I can guarantee that on this point, I will remain firm and uncompromising. Haiti must be above all. National interest is the priority of priorities.

Today, face the world history, more than ever, Haiti needs all its son to regain its unit, its integrity, its greatness and prestige. Yes, I say and I repeat again, Haiti needs all his son to return to the path of development and growth. Sure, a shared growth and a regained dignity. At this crucial juncture in the history of our country, I solicit the support and sacrifice of all the nation's son to consolidate democratic institutions and to live the values of the republic.

Dear fellow citizens, be at the rendezvous of history, THE GREAT HISTORY that we will write together. Be actor of your destiny by joining your personal history to the history of the country. I invite you to become builders of the works that resist the vagaries of weather and misunderstanding of men who live at the past.

I invite you to participate in the elections of 24 January 2016 and vote for me to become the next President of the Republic to whom you will entrust the destiny of the country for the next five years. I also encourage you to vote for our senators and deputies still in the running to complement the Parliament.

By voting in the elections of January 24, 2016, you are choosing to write a page of positive history of Haiti.
