Haiti - Humanitarian : Emergency aid of 100,000 dollars from South Korea

The Korean agency Yonhap news, reported today that South Korea has pledged $100,000 for emergency aid to Haiti to help the state cope with the massive outbreak of cholera and the damage caused by Hurricane Tomas.

The hurricane and the cholera epidemic (which infected so far 11.125 people and left 724 dead), added to the woes of Haiti, which already struggling to recover from the earthquake of last January.

Hurricane Tomas killed 21 people, 36 wounded and seven others are missing. Over 1,000 houses were destroyed, specified the ministry and damage to agriculture are considerable. 
 


Recall that 240 soldiers from South Korea are now in Haiti, at Leogane since February as part of the UN mission. They are primarily responsible for civil engineers to help rebuild Haiti.
