Haiti - Economy : Inflation accelerates and reaches 12,5%

During the month of December 2015 some acceleration in prices in monthly and annual rates were observed in the Index General of Consumer Prices (Base 100 in August 2004), which stood at 250.1 in November rose to 252.8 in December , an increase of 1.1% monthly and 12.5% yoY.

Functions that have contributed most to this monthly increase of 1.1% are primarily "Food, Beverage & Tobacco" (+ 1.2%), "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" (+ 1.8%), "Rent Housing, Energy and water" (+ 0.9%)," Housing Development and Maintenance" (+ 1.5%) and "Other Goods and Services" (+ 1.0%).

The progress of the "Food, Beverage & Tobacco" function which represents over 50% of the household budget comes from other rice prices (+ 0.7%), millet (+2.9), ground corn (+ 0.7%) of wheat flour (+0.9 of beef (+ 1.0%), poultry (+ 2.6%), fresh fish (+ 1.2%), eggs (+ 0.9%), avocado (+ 2.2%), bananas (+ 2.5%), the kazoo, pumpkin (+3.5), green peas (+0.9), dry peas (+1.9), eggplant (+ 2.4%), cabbage (+ 2.3%), tomatoes (+ 1.3%), of the sweet potato (+ 3.0%) and potatoes (+ 3.2%), orange (+ 2.0%), of the chadèque (+ 2.2%), lemon (+ 2.2%), raw sugar (+ 2.5%) and refined sugar (+ 1.3%).

The increase in the "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" function is mainly due to the increase in products such as tissues (+ 3.7%), suit, jacket Universal (+ 2.5%), pants for men (+ 1.8%), dress (+ 1.3%) and tennis shoes (+ 3.9%) and sandals (+ 1.5%).

The rent housing up + 1.6%, is essentially due to the growth of the index "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" the other products stagnated.

The increase observed in the "Planning and Housing Maintenance" function is mainly due to living room furniture (+ 1.7%) in the dining room (+ 6.1%), the bed (+ 3.5%), the mattress (+ 3.8%), refrigerated (+ 2.4%) and the wages of domestic workers (+ 3.8%).

Finally, products that contributed most to the increase in the "Other Goods and Services" function are shampoo (+ 1.3%), toilet powder (+ 2.3%), the body cream (+4.8 %), other hair care products (+ 1.1%) and cleaning shoes (+ 3.5%).
