Haiti - Sports : Tribute to 14 personalities of the Haitian sports sector

Saturday at the Hotel NH El Rancho, at the first edition of the Gala of Sporting Honor, Jimmy Albert the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) honored 14 personalities of the Haitian sports sector for their achievement and contribution to sport development in Haiti.

Homage was paid posthumously to Ernst Laraque, former President of the Haitian Judo Federation and Antoine Tassy, Coach of the National Football Selection qualified for the World Cup Germany 1974.

Leaders and sports technicians Léonce Maurice, Jacques Joachim, Ralph Kernizant, Dr Yves Jean-Bart, Ernst Jean-Baptiste, Valiollah St Louis Gilmus and filmmaker Guérina Faubert received plates of Honor.

The best athletes of the year 2015, Darline Jean Marie, Nérilia Mondésie and Solaïda Pierre, considered as the future of the national sport, were distinguished for the pride of our country through their brilliant performances.

Social action and the various interventions for young people, have been the arguments retained by the MJSAC to honor the Fémina Club Multisports of Limonade and the Athlétique d'Haïti, two institutions involved in the supervision and training of youth Haitian.

"Whether a young athlete who is committed to pursuing its objectives or performance of a sports leader who against winds and tides, remains firm on the stand to ensure that its team, its club, his sports association or its Federation remains functional, it is the same spirit of commitment that motivates them," stressed the Minister Albert also recalled how the values are present in the Haitian sports world and thanked the winners of the Gala on behalf of all those who have benefited from their commitment, their perseverance, their performance and their caring expertise

This gala evening, which was attended by the former minister, René Jean Roosevelt, sports, business, politics, civil society personalities, and representatives of more than a dozen national sport Federations and Associations, was animated by the orchestra Tropicana of Haiti, the young singer Jean Jean Roosevelt, the Queen Bee singer accompanied the guitarist Clement Bélizaire, the couple Lino and Samode Myril and dancers of the Institute Lynn William Rouzier.
