Haiti - Economy : Program «KONBIT» of USAID, the details ...
The US Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti), launched last Thursday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16639-haiti-economy-launch-of-the-project-konbit-of-the-usaid.html the "Konbit" project to strengthen civil society organizations and service providers to businesses.

Under the "Local Solutions" program of USAID, a Cooperation Agreement with a five-year term was recently awarded to Papyrus SA and its three partners: "Ayiti Nexus", "Steve Kroll and Associates" and "Tetra Tech" to strengthen organizations of civil society and service providers to companies in Haiti, USAID has awarded 15 grants to 15 companies including Haitian associations, non-governmental groups and social service organizations engaged in social and economic development to strengthen their activities and contribute to the development of Haiti in the areas of health, education, agriculture, the rights to employment, disability services, protection of disadvantaged groups and the promotion of women.

Through the project "Konbit" these groups will receive support services in administrative management, organizational and financial.

The project "Konbit" willworks with ten affiliated Haitian businesses to strengthen the institutional capacity of beneficiary companies and organizations beneficiaries of USAID and simultaneously strengthen the skills of Haitian service providers who can provide administrative and organizational support services to non-governmental organizations and groupings of civil society.

The project "Konbit" will also bring together experts in management and Haitian and international technical specialists for conferences on a wide range of topics to encourage collaboration and sharing of best practices, innovations and industry standards. This project is also responsible for facilitating the access of organizations and associations of Haitian civil society to requests of USAID and help them qualify for funding from USAID.

Jene Thomas, Mission Director of the USAID Haiti Mission, stressed the important role of civil society organizations in the development of Haiti and reiterated "[...] Sustainable development can not be achieved by one group. Sustainable development in Haiti requires the combined efforts of all private sector actors, of the civil society, government and international partners together around common goals in a real konbit !"
