Haiti - FLASH : Inauguration of the Prime Minister named
After handing over a copy of the decree to the Prime Minister named Jocelerme Privert delivered a speech.
Speech of President a.i. Jocelerme Privert :
"Ladies and gentlemen,
[...] We are all here present this afternoon to proceed with the solemn inauguration of the Prime Minister named Jean-Alphonse Fritz, this is a great decision taken in accordance with Articles 137 and 158 of the Constitution of the Republic and the political agreement of February 5 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16533-haiti-politic-the-details-of-the-agreement-from-a-to-z.html . I thank the outgoing Prime Minister Mr. Evans Paul or his invaluable contribution to the search for a calming atmosphere on term of security and social in the country and for having run the public administration during the last days, I also thank the members of the outgoing governmentfor all the services rendered to the Nation in the exercise of their functions, also thank to all those who came to attend the inauguration, which testifies to the unwavering commitment of the Presidency of the Republic and the parliament to ensure the institutional continuity and the continuation of the electoral process begun in 2015 in accordance with the political agreement of 5 February.
Mr Prime Minister named I congratulate you and take this opportunity to thank you for agreeing to serve our country as Prime Minister. Your nomination reflects my will as I pointed out in the speech of my inauguration as interim President of the Republic to ensure the protection and consolidation of republican institutions, of the democracy and the rule of law and ensure the constant protection of the general interest.
Mr. Prime Minister I would like to remind you that my presidency is based on four major priority axes : the formation of a government; the revitalization of the CEP; the continuation of electoral process; the effective and efficient management of public administration.
Also in reference to the political agreement dated February 5 we must strive to fulfill all the major axes within a maximum period of 120 days as provided in the Agreement of 5 February.
Of course many will already says that this period allowed is too short to me, but in my case I am convinced that this is feasible within the period prescribed subject to the political good will of all of us.
This is why everyone in regards is asked to do their best for the strict respect of that period.
Honourable parliamentarians I am particularly pleased to present you the Prime Minister named, it is the result of nearly two weeks of consultations held with all sectors of national life as provided for in paragraph 2 of the Agreement of February 5.
It is also an opportunity for me to publicly thank all my compatriots that were proposed for this position, parties and political organization, the political blocs in parliament, people's organizations and personalities who all participated in these consultations and helped us make this choice.
Mr. Prime Minister you will have in the coming days to appear before Parliament to obtain a vote of confidence on your general policy statement, I sincerely hope that this declaration obtains a favorable vote.
Thus we must continue to exercise self-transcendence, and raise us to the height of our size of Statesman, we have to be beyond our political and ideological cleavages to provide the country with a government while taking account of the deadline for the institutional continuity and the continuation of the electoral process.
In doing so, we will show to all that the powers of the state work for peace, harmony, concord and solidarity according to our legend 'Union is Strength' and our national motto Liberty, Equality Fraternity.
In our capacity of men and women of state we must make an important contribution.
My dear compatriots I address you this afternoon, a message of confidence of Peace and national unity.
Haiti relies on these daughters and son, without unity there can not be force in the country.
It is time for us to search without hesitation, the understanding and harmony between the state powers, the vital sectors of national life and political actors in the country.
The future of the country is not based on one citizen nor a political party, the country's future depends on all of us.
Today we need a surge pushed of patriotism, it is time for each of us to make sacrifices for national unity, it is also time for us to combine our efforts to save Haiti by dialogue and respect of our responsibility.
We have responsibility towards ourselves, towards future generations, we have no right to fail. 'Nou tout se Ayisyen ! Ann sispann pèdi tan ! Ann travay pou peyi a avanse !'
Prime Minister named I know that you are endowed with quality and competence to perform this function with honor and dignity in this historic moment of our life of people. I ask you to work for the formation of a government of consensus that should include all political sensitivities, formed of men and women known for their commitment, competence, integrity and above all their devotion to the democratic cause.
This government has the primary mission to work towards the revitalization of CEP, to the continuation of electoral process started in 2015 and a good management of state affairs.
It is to this task I call you; I ask you to fully assume and play all your partition so that together we create peace, stability and harmony within the family.
I thank you and thank you to all members of the diplomatic corps, to all my fellow citizens, all political organizations that helped us during these few days through consultation to make this choice for the benefit of our country, thank you."
