As part of International Women's Day, celebrated Tuesday, March 8, President a.i. Jocelerme Privert sent a message to the Haitian women, we invite you to read it.

Message from the President a.i. Jocelerme Privert :

"Madam First Lady,

Ladies of the Republic,

I am particularly pleased to celebrate on this occasion, the International Women's Day. This allows me to express myself on the situation of women worldwide and particularly that of Haiti, which never cease to amaze by their valor, their intelligence and endurance, facing the daily challenges that mark their existence.

Do I need to remind the efforts and sacrifices made in the education of children, the constantly renewed commitment in favor of the family, often in ignorance of some and the indifference of some and silence of others. These sacrifices made, often in pain, were intended only to ensure the sustainability of the family and the protection of present and future.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, I want to reiterate my determination to see all sectors of national life to engage in the promotion of gender equality in all State affairs.

Indeed, the 1987 amended Constitution formally established a normal quota to promote greater representation of women in public affairs. I encourage all sectors to work towards the implementation of this constitutional requirement, marking the irreversible entry of our people in the democratic progress and emancipation

Ladies,

I want to stress the need for both the Executive and for all actors of national life to strengthen the protection of girls and women system in chronic conditions of vulnerability that maintain the continuing cycle of violence.

I encourage all initiatives that promote the mandatory presence of women in all areas of decision-making in the State.
