Haiti - Epidemic : $1MM to train 10.000 health workers
The William J. Clinton Foundation announced it has committed $1.5 million dollars in response to the cholera outbreak in Haiti. In recent weeks, the disease has claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people.

As part of its immediate assistance, the Foundation is committing $1 million dollars for the training (in partnership with the Ministry of Health) of 10,000 public health community agents throughout the country and the purchase of 10,000 portable treatment packs against the cholera.

In the longer term, the Foundation is committing $500,000 to support the implementation of a national education and awareness campaign.

In the coming weeks, the Foundation and the Ministry of Health will conduct the identification of a Haitian company who will implement these efforts. These two projects will be submitted, at the next meeting for approval to the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC ).
