Haiti - Security : Police officers fewer in the streets

Tuesday after the announcement of 2 days of symbolic reflections (Tuesday 15 and Wednesday, March 16), not to mention "strike" (prohibited to PNH officers), the police officers seemed less numerous in the streets of Port-au- Prince for the first day https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16873-haiti-security-of-police-officers-on-strike.html ,

while in Cap-Haitien has been reported to us that the police were virtually absent in the streets.

According to our sources dozens of police officers also participated in a meeting in the premises of the Directorate of Traffic and Police Road, around the deadly attacks that hit too often the security forces.

Kettly Julien, the Executive Director of the Mobile Institute for Democratic Education while estimating revolting the assassinations against the police, call the police not to give up the street to the bandits and continue to fulfill their mission of protecting lives and property.

In a statement the police Corporation which has over 5,000 active agents throughout the national territory and the Association of Women Police officers of Haiti (AFPH) announced that the movement in general, seemed to be respected.

Police officers protesters invited the authorities of the executive, judiciary and legislature to reconsider the Staff Manual of the PNH and redefine the working conditions of police officers in order to find an immediate solution to situations of violence and assassinations they are often victims. Adding that during these two days, no arrest or search will not be executed and no ticket will be given.

The PNH Directorate has refused to confirm or deny this "strike movement".
