Haiti - Humanitarian : 256,000 dollars in aid from Japan

The Ambassador of Japan accredited to Port-au-Prince, Yoshiaki Hatta, proceeded recently at a ceremony to the signing of three grant agreements totaling US $ 256,000.

Development of a fruit processing plant :

An amount of 87,000 dollars has been made available to the Association of Women in Action of Gros Morne (AFAGM) for the development of a fruit processing plant, the construction of a storage area and equipment necessary for the operation of the workshop.

Development of a grain workshop :

An amount of $ 90,000 was made available to the farmers of the Association for the Development of Liancourt Moreau (APDML) for the development of a grain workshop to Verrettes including a shed with a drying area and 3 motorized grain grinders. Also this amount will accompany farmers to enable them to increase their rice production, corn and millet in Liancourt.

Rehabilitation of the "école communautaire mixte reformée" of Levêque :

An amount of $ 80,000 was made available to the leaders of the Association for the Development of Levêque / Cabaret for the rehabilitation of the "école communautaire mixte reformée" of Levêque which includes the construction of six classrooms, a toilet block and provision of school furniture.

Moreover, Ambassador Yoshiaki Hatta signed another grant agreement amounting to 451.759 dollars, to improve access to safe drinking water and hygiene promotion (reservoir construction and health infrastructure and training of health management committees) at 12 schools and 12 communities in the Southeast department and 6 schools and four communities in the municipality of Croix-des-Bouquets.
