Haiti - Epidemic : Edwin Paraison in Dominican Republic
While leaving the seminar on bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, which was held Thursday at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, Edwin Paraison, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, (MHAVE), spoke about the need to increase binational actions to prevent the spread of cholera.

"Some measures to prevent the spread of cholera have been coordinated between the two countries, but while we take control to prevent disease, we must be cautious before imposing barriers to business, particularly in the border area," said the Minister.

Edwin Paraison showed coordinated action by the authorities of both countries to prevent the spread of cholera which made 1.110 victims in Haiti since the beginning of the epidemic, on October 20.

He said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive, in the coming days will be put in place an education campaign and awareness in the Haitian community in the Dominican Republic. To carry out this activity, he called on organizations working with the Haitian community in the country, to a meeting next Saturday. After the meeting, the Minister will meet, in the afternoon, farmers in San Francisco de Macoris.

"The Prime Minister asked us to meet the Ambassador of Haiti and the Haitian three consuls who are in the country, in order to sensitize them with hygiene measures which the people must respect to prevent the cholera and thus, collaborate with the Dominican society" concluded Edwin Paraison.
