Haiti - Music : Call for candidates, Prix Découvertes RFI 2016

The call for candidates for the 36th edition of the Prix Découvertes RFI 2016 is launched. The Prix Découvertes RFI is organized in partnership with the French Institute, the International Organization of the Francophonie, SACEM, Deezer and Ubiznews.

The contest is open to all artists or professional musical groups from Africa, Indian Ocean and Caribbean (including Haiti). The winner will receive €10,000, a tour of Africa or in the Caribbean and a concert in Paris.

RFI and its partners are stakeholders committed with the laureate, and offer it professional support and media exposure.

Artists have until 1 July 2016 to submit their applications. These must have a personal page on the Internet or social networks including a minimum of four titles in listening.

Recall that since 1981, the Prix Découvertes RFI highlights new musical talent of the African continent. Over the years, this Prix has helped launch many artists who have since reached an international audience : Tiken Jah Fakoly (Ivory Coast), Amadou and Mariam (Mali), Rokia Traoré (Mali), Didier Awadi (Senegal)... The Cape Verdean artist Elida Almeida a won the Prix Découvertes RFI 2015.

The jury, composed of professionals, each year is chaired by a personality. From Fally Ipupa to Jacob Desvarieux, Youssou N’Dour, Angélique Kidjo, Richard Bona, Passi or Asalfo, the presidents of Prix Découvertes RFI brings their support and experience to its radiance.
