Haiti - Politic : The Senator Jean Renel Sénatus, becomes independent...

In a letter addressed to the President of the minority opposition group (G9), the Senator Jean Renel Sénatus, eager of his independence and to avoid stigmatization, informes of his withdrawal from the G9, while confirming wanting to stay alongside with his colleague.

Letter from Jean Renel Sénatus :

"[...]

Mister President,

By the effect of a coincidence, without discussion and sharing of political ideology, we have since 11 January 2016, released a working practice between us, so that in the opinion, we became for a member of the Group designated as the minority in the Senate.

For this unprecedented association in my career and my political past, I was the subject and I still am, of any kind of stigma that I assumed because I have not denied and will never deny the values on what are based my beliefs.

Today my country is going through a difficult time and my voice that inspires respect and credibility is important. In anticipation of the re-fixation of norms, I do not like that my actions are misinterpreted as ideological versus my belonging to this Working Group.

So I have to inform you of my withdrawal from the group, wishing you long road and promise you that in everything you have to do or undertake as acts in the best interests of the country so steeped in petty fights and dead ends, I'll be at your side to continue to play my role as a builder.

Please convey my thanks to the (8) eight colleagues and share with them my profound respect.

Jean Renel Sénatus, Senator"
