This Thursday 20 April, as part of the commemoration of the Day of the Diaspora, Guy G. Lamothe, Ambassador of Haiti in Mexico delivered a message to the Haitian Community.

Message from the Ambassador Guy G. Lamothe :

"My dear compatriots,

The celebration of the National Day of the Diaspora this April 20 gives me a happy occasion to speak to all of you who live in Mexico away from native shores and evolve in spheres of different activities.

On behalf of the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico and on my own behalf, I wish that this day is for each of you, a time of celebration of this double identity, which allows you to integrate you to Mexico while still attached to our beloved country Haiti.

It is imperative to cultivate the spirit of harmony and effective solidarity between son and daughters of the same country, which must guide our actions in accordance with the objectives of your presence here.

The spirit of realism and insight to grasp, in all its fullness, the weight of your responsibilities in the Haitian community of Mexico.

Also know listen to your heart, this essential factor make it possible to take into account in your future prospects, the necessary return to alma mater, our beloved Haiti to the glorious past and uncertain present.

The heart who knows guide you when it comes time to make a positive contribution to the improvement of fate of our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Because now more than ever, in the issue of sustainable development in Haiti, the contribution of the Haitian diaspora is unavoidable.

My dear compatriots,

It pleases me to remember that the Haitian diaspora in Mexico is growing in number and quality. I am particularly delighted with the presence of 300 young scholars, mobilized and determined to acquire knowledge.

So I express the wish that the celebration of the National Day of the Diaspora strengthens you concern for your specific responsibilities, and the hope to come together on the ground in Haiti for a better tomorrow in the national destiny.
