The 120-day period of the agreement is in the Constitution

Wednesday, President a.i. Privert has insisted that the 120 days in the Agreement of February 5 is a provision of the Constitution which stipulates that in case of presidential vacancy, the election must be held within 60 to 120 days. However, he stressed that this implies "that there is a government and a functional CEP, which was not the case." Asked about his future as provisional President after May 14, he recalled that it is stated in the agreement of February 5, that it belongs to the National Assembly to meet in order to take the necessary decisions.

Americans fear the political use of the Commission

Peter F. Mulrean, the American Ambassador accredited to Port-au-Prince went Wednesday to parliament where he had discussions about the electoral process and the implementation of the Agreement of February 5, he expressed his concerns about the political situation of the country, besides the accentuation in delays he was concerned that the Commission is instrumentalized by political sector "we fear that this Commission not serve to make to technical verification but to pursue a political hidden agenda.

Privert is not responsible for delays

Wednesday before flying to New York, the acting President Jocelerme Privert said that between May 15 and May 31, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) will release the new electoral timetable. Furthermore he stated that he had already the components of the Verification Commission which will be evealed "very soon" and said also, that he had no responsibility for the delays, reminding having done everything depended on him to respect the agreement of February 5.

PM declines any responsibility

The Prime Minister, denied responsibility in the implementation of the process of formation of the Electoral Verification Commission, stressing that he will have to become more involved in this issue.
