Haiti - Diaspora : 213th anniversary of the Haitian flag

Lesly Condé, the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago reminds the Haitian community in the entire Midwest that May 18, 2016 brings the 213th anniversary of the creation of the Haitian flag.

The Consulate informs in a note that "Saturday, May 14, the Consular Mission is partnering with the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti, the Haitian-American Museum and other Haitian community organizations in Chicago to invite compatriots and friends of Haiti to a recreational, cultural and tourist meeting to be held from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the Levy Center located at 300 Dodge Ave. - Evanston - Illinois.

Program: Message from Consul General, several speakers, patriotic songs, poems, historical flag, musical entertainment. Keynote speaker: Herrica Télus. A meal and refreshments will also be served."

Also Sunday, May 22, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consulate General invited the brothers and sisters of the Community to a Te Deum Mass Solennelle which will be celebrated at 5:30 pm to the Church of Our Lady of Peace, located at 7801 South Jeffery, Chicago.

After the religious ceremony a reception will be held in the basement of the church. This invitation is extended to people of all religious denominations.

The Consul General encourages all Haitians and friends of Haiti to come in large numbers to pay homage to our national emblem, the symbol of our brotherhood and our resilience.
