Haiti - Economy : Launch of the Project Finance Act 2016-2017 process

Friday, in order to meet the requirements of the Constitution, Yves Romain Bastien, the Minister of Economy and Aviol Fleurant Minister of Planning launched the process of development of the Project Finance Act (Budget 2016-2017).

The new proposal of Finance Act 2016-2017 will be developed in the context of the Strategic Plan of Development of Haiti (PSDH) which is the national reference documents, also taking into account the new Three-Year Investment Programme (PTI) 2017-2019. In this draft budget, emphasis will be put among others, on territorial issues, growth, issues of poverty, development financing and promotion of private investments. Priority will be given to agriculture, infrastructure, education, health and tourism.

It was agreed that to develop this draft budget, a Commission will be formed. It will be co-chaired by the Ministers of Economy and that of Planning and will also include the Director General of the Ministry of Economy, the General Director of Budget, the Director General of Taxation and the Director General of the General Administration of Customs.

The Minister Bastien stressed that this process should already have been initiated for a long time to meet the deadline of June 30 set by the current Constitution.
