Haiti - Politic : Deep disagreement on Haiti within the OAS
The Permanent Mission of Haiti to the Organization of American States (OAS-MPH) expresses its profound disagreement face to the interpretation of the political situation in Haiti, made by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) [one of the principal organs of the OAS which acts independently] in its press release of June 22, 2016 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17860-haiti-politic-iachr-deeply-concerned-by-the-institutional-vacuum-in-haiti.html [Note that we have already reported this "mistake" in our article].

The MPH-OEA wishes to emphasize that, contrary to the assertion of the IACHR, there is no decision to date of the Haitian National Assembly to terminate the mandate of the provisional President Jocelerme Privert.

OAS Mission invites the IACHR to avoid any hasty approach and any simplistic interpretation of a complex political and electoral situation that requiere patience, dialogue and spirit of compromise. It also calls on all partners and international organizations to continue to support the process of democratization and institution-building in Haiti by supporting the efforts of the present government to hold elections to hand over power to a democratically elected President February 7, 2017.
