Haiti - Insecurity : Incidents at the border, at least 5 Haitians wounded by gunshot
At least five Haitians were wounded by gunshot today in Dajabon, during violent clashes with, members of the Dominican border security (CESFRONT), and with the soldiers of the Mission UN in Haiti (Minsustah), according to doctors and the Haitian authorities.

The confrontation began when a group of Haitians angry, attacked with stones, sticks and knives, members of (Cesfront) in Dominican Republic, they accused them of having seized a shipment of garlic, who would have been introduced supposedly in smuggling on the Dominican territory, by an Haitian businessman.

According to Cesfront, Haitians attacked the offices of the Dominican customs at Dajabon, burned a truck carrying cement and destroyed the windshields of several vehicles. During those clashes, Junior Floresta, a Haitian 19-year-old was hit by a bullet to the chest fired by a soldier Dominican. The wounded man was taken to Santiago Hospital to receive medical care.

In Haiti, protesters have caused damage to a vehicle of Minustah in the city of Ouanaminthe, on the border with the Dominican Republic. Because of violent protests in Haiti, UN peacekeepers have evacuated staff of the Dominican consulate in the city, threatened of attack according to military sources.

Later in the day, demonstrators attacked the Minustah forces in Haiti, a clash that made at least four wounded by gunshot among the demonstrators. The injured were treated at the public hospital of Ouanaminthe and Fort Liberte in Haiti. Doctors and activists of human rights have confirmed the facts.

A commission of officials and top military officials initiated an investigation on the incidents on the Dominican side.
