Saturday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Hinche, took place the ceremony of episcopal ordination and enthronement of the new bishop of Hinche, Mgr Désinord Jean.

The ceremony was attended by Catholic clergy, including Cardinal Chibly Langlois and the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Eugène Martin Nugent, many representatives of the Church in Haiti and abroad, government members, parliamentarians and the great Christian community of Hinche.

In his sermon of fidelity according to the sacred canons of the Church, the new bishop, Mgr Jean Desinord, invited all the faithful of the Diocese of Hinche to rejoice, to work with him and become living witnesses of God's mercy "I love you like a father loves his son and I am your father. Each of you is a pearl and my episcopate, I placed it under the aegis of the Immaculate. My mission is to share with you God's mercy. Do whatever it will tells you, that's my motto."

In his speech circumstances, the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Eugène Martin Nugent, invited the community hinchoise to walk hand in hand with his new Bishop.

Man with an open minded, having held various positions within the church, Désinord Jean was born September 26, 1967 (48 years old) to Furcy. He was ordained in November 1994. Bishop of Hinche since April 4, 2016, he and enthroned Saturday he succeeds Mgr Simon-Pierre Saint-Hillien, who died in July 2015.
