Haiti - Sports : 10 Haitian athletes confirmed for the Olympic Games

According to the Haitian Olympic Committee, 10 Haitian athletes will defend the colors of our two-tone and will attempt to bring home a medal, to the next Olympic Games "RIO 2016" to be held in Rio in Brazil from 5 to 21 August 2016.

Qualified athletes :

Athletics :

Darrel Wesh in the 100 and 200m ;

Jeffrey Julmis to the 110m hurdles ;

Mulern Jean to the 100m hurdles ;

Samyr Laine to the triple jump.

Boxing :

Richardson Hitchins.

Judo :

Josué Deprez

Weight lifting:

Edouard Joseph.

Wrestling :

Asnage Castelly.

Swimming :

Mike Dorsainvil at 50 meter freestyle

Taekwondo :

Aniya Necol Louissaint.

Swimmer accepted by derogation :

Following the reconsideration of request from the Haitian Federation of Aquatic Sports (FHSA), the International Swimming Federation (FINA) confirmed that exceptionally Haitian swimmer Naomy Grand'Pierre had been accepted under the rule of Universality.

Recall that to qualify Naomy Grand'Pierre had to swim the 50m in under 26 seconds and 17 hundredths of a second (26.17), time of the Olympic selection, but her best performance did not allow her to obtain Olympic qualification, her best time exceeded 1 second 18/100 the time required. She enters through the back door but became the first woman in history to represent Haiti in swimming.
