Following the visit on May 15 of 3 members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) in the Dominican Republic to observe the general elections, which allowed among other to Haitian Advisers to see in operation, the process of biometric voter identification; a delegation of the Dominican Central Electoral Junta is expected Wednesday in Port-au-Prince where it will stay until July 22.

Tuesday, Richardson Dumesle, CEP Communications Director, said that the two electoral bodies will discuss the possibility of identifying, in the context of a pilot biometric experience, voters from their fingerprints during the election of 9 October. Thus, in some Voting centers, voters will be identified only from fingerprints which will eliminate the possibility that a person voting more than once.

The aim is to fight against electoral fraud.
