Haiti - FLASH : New bureau in the Senate, Larèche elected President

Wednesday, July 20, after more than 5 months without a president, senators met in plenary session have elected unsurprisingly, the current Vice President of the Senate Ronald Larèche, President of the Upper House, a position he already assumed on an interim basis.

Senator Andris Riché having withdrawn his candidacy, Ronald Larèche only candidate, was elected by 16 votes for, 0 against and one abstention (Andris Riché).

Besides Ronald Larèche, Steeven Irvenson Benoît, was elected Vice-President (former 2nd secretary) ; Jean-Marie Salomon Junior, elected 2nd secretary (replaces Steeven Benoit) ; Lucas Saint-Vil Francois, retains his position as 1st secretary and Fritz Carlos Lebon, retains his post of Quaestor.

Senator Jean-Marie Salomon, welcomed the election of a new the Upper House, stressing that this result is the consensus among the three political blocs at Senate.
