Haiti - Politic : The financing of elections to the agenda of the Council of Ministers

Wednesday at the National Palace, the members of the Provisional Electoral Council took part in a major Council of Ministers co-chaired by President de facto Jocelerme Privert Enex and Prime Minister Jean-Charles.

After the major decisions of national interest relating the proper functioning of the State, the second part of the Council of Ministers concerned the progress of the electoral process and disbursement mechanisms of funds for the completion of the electoral process. Disbursement of funds without the amount concerned to be mentioned in the communication of the Government... the opportunity for Jocerlerme Privert reiterating its credo to members of the government and of the CEP "I want to reassure the Nation of the commitment made on your behalf, namely the organization of good elections to return to constitutional order."

CEP members have welcomed the government's approach to mobilize resources and put them at their disposal. Léopold Berlanger, the President of the CEP welcomed this initiative saying "Now, it will end the suspense, to the tractations making believing that the elections could not take place due to lack of financial resources [...]" also keeping to mention the amount of available financial resources...

For his part, Yves Romain Bastien, Minister of Economy and Finance made the presentation of three scenarios for the financing of elections.
