Haiti - Elections : A Political and economic loss for the country

Eddie Labossiere, President of the Haitian Association of Economists (AHE) believes that the organization of elections on 28 November is a total loss, both economic and political for Haiti. He believes that this election should be invalidated due to irregularities denounced by various sectors including observers and political parties.

On the economic front, he believes that "much of the amount spent on organizing the elections could have been invested in the Haitian economy or for the victims of the earthquake last January's" considering that 25% of 29 million dollars spent, would have been sufficient to hold the poll. The President of the AHE, is very critical vis-à-vis the international community which has mainly funded the organizing of these elections "without putting tags to ensure its good behavior".
