Haiti - NOTICE : The CONATEL threat illegal radios
The Executive Body of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) found that radio stations continue to broadcast without authorization in the country in contravention of the provisions of the Decree of 12 October 1977, which grants a monopoly of telecommunications services to the State.

This is highly prejudicial to all radiocommunication services, particularly to the aeronautical communications with all the risks of interference that implies for air traffic.

In response, Jean Marie Altema, Director General of CONATEL "[...] orders all radio stations operating illegally on the territory of Haiti, to stop broadcasting immediately. Otherwise, it will be applied against them all the rigors of the law with the seizure of their equipment whose the CONATEL will dispose under Article 138 of the decree of 1977.

En outre, il sera prononcé contre les contrevenants l'interdiction de présenter au CONATEL une quelconque demande d’autorisation de fournir un service de radiocommunication durant deux ans, conformément à l'article 58 dudit décret."
