Haiti - Elections : Biometric Voter Identification more details

Ramòn Hilario Espiñeira, General Secretary of the Central Electoral Junta (JCE) Dominican who recently led a delegation to Haiti to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18113-haiti-elections-towards-the-biometric-identification-of-voters.html recommended to provide the technical assistance requested by Haiti, in order the neighboring country can experience a pilot project of Biometric Voter Identification during the elections of 9 October, on the Dominican model.

The recommendations formulated in the report submitted to Roberto Rosario, President of the JCE, said that the pilot project of identification of Haitian voters, would only be implemented in one or two voting center (30 to 50 polling stations) not exceeding 400 voters. It is also indicated that the Haitian Electoral Council asked what it should do to use this software solution in Haiti. The Dominican delegation said it was first necessary to establish the compatibility of the systems, providing IT Dominicans, samples of registers with specific technical standards, identifications of citizens used in Haiti. Once compatibility determined, the Dominican technicians will see to what extent it will be possible to respond to the assistance requested.

The report of the delegation, also mentions meetings with members of the Haitian Civil Society, who showed interest in the voting system used by the Dominicans, they called innovative.
