Haiti - Elections : The Diaspora should like contribute to the financing of elections

Thursday at the National Palace, in the context of the organization of elections in Haiti and their financing, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, met with representatives of organizations of the Haitian diaspora (among others : United Diaspora Fund, the NOAH Haiti, the HRA, the Global Watch, GRAHN-USA, the Haitian Alliance, the Haitian American Veterans Association, the NHAEON, the Federation of the Haitian diaspora in Europe, the Haitian American Grassroots Coalition, etc...)

In their interventions, the members of the delegation expressed their willingness to contribute to the financing of elections. They also took the opportunity to emphasize on their active participation in political and social life of their country.

It emerges from this meeting that the establishment of a Commission is studied, in view of their support and seamless integration of their contribution.

On Friday, the delegation, led by Daly Valet, the Adviser to the President Privert went to the headquarters of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to discuss specifically the modality to enable them to make a financial contribution to the achievement of the upcoming elections. In addition, members of the delegation wanted to know if their vote will be guaranteed the next elections, under the Decree and things put in place by the electoral institution.

The Adviser Marie France Joachim, Secretary General of the Electoral Council, who welcomed the members of the delegation explained to them that the CEP, by his status, does not directly receive help from anyone or entity. She also made them understand that the Electoral Decree in force unfortunately not guarantees, for now, the right to vote of Haitian citizens living abroad.

The way of Executive power has been chosen for the transmission of financial support that Haitian citizens in the diaspora would like bring to the organization of the forthcoming elections.
