Haiti - Politic : Rising of gas prices, the major parties increased political react

The significant increase in the pump price decided by the Government, in force since Sunday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18374-haiti-flash-strong-increase-in-pump-fule-prices.html is unanimously rejected and criticized.

A rise in price causing a strong reaction of the major Political parties, as well as transport unions and youth within the Youth Government of Haiti.

LAPEH :

Jean Hector Anacacis, the Coordinator of LAPEH considers that Jocerleme Privert has betrayed the people. Recalling that he has failed his mandate by not realizing elections and now he makes decisions against the interests of the population. He says Privert has no mandate, that he is not legitimate and wants to forcibly impose that measure to the population. For him, Privert wants to push the people to revolt to prevent the next election and stay in power.

Fanmi Lavalas :

Maryse Narcisse the presidential candidate under the banner "Fanmi Lavalas" believes that this increase in oil prices will "aggravate the misery of the people [...] is too much, the people can not endure this misery."

PHTK :

Reynald Lubérice, the spokesman of the PHTK believes that the increase in fuel prices since Sunday is not justified, he said would have first make savings in many positions created by the Privert administration. Furthermore he states that "[...] the de facto president, who has neither title nor quality to lead the country, has no legitimacy to take such a decision, which is only intended to rob the people, who already did not have not much [...]"

« Pitit Dessalin » :

Moïse Jean-Charles, presidential candidate under the banner "Pitit Dessalin" demands the immediate withdrawal of the measure. He proposes a gradual increase of one or three Gourdes, but refuses an increase of 30 gourdes in one shot, saying the drivers, merchants and the general population will have difficulty to accept such an increase.

Unions :

Moreover, the whole of body of public transportation union expects to have recourse to strike if the government does not withdraw in the est delay the increase in fuel prices at the pump. An increase that Bénisoit Duclos, President of the National Action of Drivers (ANC) qualifies as "criminal", accusing the authorities in place to maneuver for the next elections to be canceled...

Youth Government of Haiti :

For its part, the Youth Government of Haiti (GJH) while admitting that Haiti can not afford to continue to subsidize pump prices that increases the budget deficit of the State, believes that "the government's decision to raise prices at the pump is first inappropriate and unwelcome. Indeed, the decision is taken in prelude to the reopening of classes where parents are experiencing enormous economic difficulties. In addition to inflationary pressures linked to basic necessities that is likely to favor, transport costs that these parents must support at least twice a day will be also increased. Moreover, the decision is taken at a time when the notes of the economic conjoncture does not resonate well. So, the decision can do more harm than good to Haitian families."
