Miguel Vargas Maldonado, the new Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs (replacing in the new Government Medina, former Chancellor Andrés Navarro) will conduct Tuesday, August 30, his first foreign visit to Haiti, where he will meet his counterpart Pierrot Délienne to strengthen bilateral relations.

"We will have an opening meeting, of greeting, an introduction to reopen the door to the Dominican-Haitian relations, resume negotiations and agreements," clarified Hugo Beras, the Communications Director of the Chancellery (MIREX), adding that it is to open with Chancellor Délienne a direct bridge between the two Chancellors to facilitate the exchange of information between the two countries, noting that the visit of Maldonado in Haiti is "a big signal and the start of change" in the Dominican diplomacy.
