Haiti - Education : Inauguration of National School of Zoranje

This week, the Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), inaugurated the National School of Zoranje in Croix des Bouquets, in presence of the Minister of National Education, Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Director General of FAES, Lucien Francoeur, the IDB representative, Christian Santalices, of local authorities, of executives of FAES, parents and students.

This new modern educational infrastructure of 1,383m2, was funded by the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) to the tune of over one million (1,181,580.78 dollars) it will accommodate 410 students. According to the data sheet, this building would have a lifespan of 40 to 50 years.

The school features 9 classrooms for the three cycles of fundamental and two rooms for kindergarten. Built on a plot of 4,300 m2 the school also includes an administrative building, a kitchen, a cafeteria, library, computer lab, two toilet blocks, a water reservoir and play areas.

The National School of Zoranje open its doors next week for back to school scheduled for September 5th.
