In a note, the Embassy of the United States to Port-au-Prince, informs "that there has been a spate of 'express kidnappings' on travel routes from Haiti to the Dominican Republic. The latest occurred on August 30, when a traveler driving from Haiti to Santo Domingo was pulled over at gunpoint by a group of individuals dressed as police officers. He was driven to a secluded area and robbed. This appears to be part of a series of similar robberies by the same group of individuals.
Please caution if driving to the Dominican Republic. U.S. Citizens are strongly encouraged to arrive at their destination in the Dominican Republic before dark. "
