Haiti - Education : «Illiteracy remains a major scourge» according to the Minister Dorsonne

As part of the International Literacy Day, held under the theme "Read the past, write the future", Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Minister of National Education reminded the actions performed for about 60 years in Haiti and the challenges to eradicate illiteracy. He thanked in particular the commitment of the Cuban and Venezuelan governments and UNESCO for their support to the Haitian government in the battle against illiteracy, which according to the Minister, remains a major scourge to which we must tackle relentlessly.

The Minister invited all stakeholders to contribute to this fight hat is also part of the dynamic of the fight against poverty. "Despite limited resources, the State admits unreservedly, that it is a fundamental right for all people to read and write."

Minister Dorsonne as also expressed the willingness of his Ministry to support the initiatives of the Secretary of State for Literacy, Mrs. Paulna Julien Brutus, ho advocates consolidating the fight against illiteracy in Haiti.

Representatives of the mobile phone company NATCOM present at the event, promised to the Ministry, their moral and financial support for literacy.
