Haiti - Elections : Senate President warns the 3 powers
This week in a letter addressed to Senators Ronald Larèche, the President of the Senate and of he National Assembly began by deploring "vehemently the unjustifiable behavior that four Senate colleagues had at the beginning of the National Assembly of September 12, 2016 [...] After having reversed the quorum of the closing ceremony of the second regular session of the Legislative year 2016 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18608-haiti-politic-4-senators-make-fail-the-national-assembly.html

Continuing his correspondence around the upcoming election, the senator Larèche wrote "It is Important to recognize that the sovereign is not a prince, but the citizen who freely decides to delegate his power to people to represent it and direct it. [...] This is why I appeal to Deputies and Senate colleagues not to abuse their powers and any other means at their disposal to disrupt the elections by influencing in any manner whatsoever (violence or intimidation), the choice of the voters.

In my capacity as President of the Senate and of the National Assembly, so I warn all thosewho are planning to use violence, judicial and administrative apparatus and the electoral machinery in their favor. We are all required to leave play the democratic game. This message is also for the Executive Power, the Commissioners and Judges, officials and executives of public administration as well as the PNH and private security agencies.

To agencies from the international community, involved in one way or another in the electoral process, it is strongly recommended to let play the democratic game. The country has already suffered too much from the haughty attitude of 'grand electors' consisting to break the balance of the democratic game. Stop there! That is enough. Let's decide the verdict of the polls. That all stakeholders agree to play their part and leave unfold the elections freely. May the best win honestly !

[...] To conclude, I urge the citizens of Haiti to respond to the democratic rendezvous, Go! Express yourself massively. Do not hesitate ! the stakes are high for you, for your children and for the whole country, you can not abstain [...] Commit for your vote support your claim [...]"
