Haiti - USA : Deportations of Haitians, Edmonde S. Beauzile wrote to Obama
Following the decision of the US Government to resume regular deportations to Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18700-haiti-flash-usa-resumption-of-regular-deportations-to-haiti.html Edmonde Supplice Beauzile presidential candidate under the banner of the party Fusion of Haitian Social Democrats (FUSION) in a letter to President Barack Obama, asked him to reconsider his decision.

Extract from the letter from Beauzile to Obama :

"Dear President Obama,

Yesterday, I read in The Miami Herald that you have instructed the U.S Department of Homeland and Security to repatriate back to Haiti thousands of Haitians citing 'improved conditions in Haiti'. Unfortunately, the sad reality in Haiti today, six years after the devastating earthquake from Jan, 2010, is that our Country is worse off than we were prior [...]

One of my top goals once I am the First Woman elected President of the Republic of Haiti, is to Fight corruption and to encourage foreign investment and economic growth in many sectors starting with Tourism to create hundreds of jobs for the Haitian people so that indeed we can experience "improved conditions in Haiti' and give to our youth opportunities and good reasons to stay home.

[...] For these reasons mentioned, I kindly ask you to reconsider your position of repatriating my countrymen to Haiti during this tenuous period in our history.

On behalf of the Haitian people, I thank you for your interest and time and hope that you take my recommendations seriously as we have much work ahead [...]"
