Haiti - Diaspora : Prelude to the commemoration of the 237 years of the Battle of Savannah

As a prelude to the commemoration of the 237 years of the Battle of Savannah, the Haitian Association of the Diaspora "Haitian American Historical Society", gave an overview of the activities planned from 7 to 9 October 2016 to commemorate the Battle of Savanah against the English, which led to the independence of the United States of America, with the participation of soldiers (chasseurs volontaires) of Saint Domingue (Haiti).

To the program :

- A day of excursion from the coast of Florida to the city of Savannah;

- A series of panel discussions with Haitian historians : Pierre Buteau and Georges Michel on the historical relations of the Republic of Haiti and the United States of America;

- An exhibition of works of Haitian art;

- An evening of cultural activity in the presence of the Mayor of the city of St. Marc in Haiti, city twinned with the city of Savannah.

In addition to these activities, funds will be collected during the three days to erect a statue of General George Biassou to St. Augustine at the entrance of the cemetery Tolomato (USA).

Recall that a monument has been erected in honor of the "chasseurs volontaires" from Saint Domingue at Franklyn Square.
