Haiti - Matthew : Message from the Mayor of Port-au-Prince 03/10/2016 09:48:33
Sunday, at the approach of Matthew, a hurricane category 4 (on a scale of 5), the Mayor of Port-au-Prince Ralph Youri Chevry addressed to the population of his city that he invited "to the vigilance and solidarity in this difficult circumstance" informing that "[...] Temporary shelters are made available to citizens whose houses are fragile; The schools concerned are : Virginie Sampeur (street Capois), République du Chili (street Magloire Ambroise), National School Guillaume Manigat (street Chareron), Frtitz Pierre-Louis (street Saint Honoré), Lycée des jeunes filles (rue Capois), Lycée Jean Jacques Dessalines (avenue Christophe), Fortuna Guéri (Bicentenaire), République du Pérou (Martissant), Thomas madiou (street of Casernes) and School Fort mercredi (Fort mercredi), will serve as temporary shelters [...] Unfortunately, they can not receive everyone [...] we ask for the solidarity of all Haitians, so they help each other, they receive people at home, in safe houses, give them a place to sleep [...]"
The municipality of Port-au-Prince also made available two phone numbers 3345-1013 and 2210-1010 to enable people to get in touch with the local authorities.
