Haiti - FLASH : The population hungry, attacking humanitarian aid trucks

There is anger among desperate victims who have lost everything, looking for foods in the ruins, they are hungry and according to them, humanitarian aid is slow in coming. Furious, they criticize the government for its lack of coordination in the distribution of food and water to the population.

Others do not hesitate to throw stones and bottles at the truckloads of humanitarian aid. Tuesday in Jérémie residents have erected near the UN base, a barricade of tree trunks, forcing a convoy of three trucks to stop, the peacekeepers had to leave their vehicle protecting himself from the fury of the population with their riot shields...
violence and looting scenes at risk of be repeated, the number of people in urgent humanitarian need is very important. According to the Civil Protection Directorate 1.410.774 people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance : South (464.986), Grand-Anse (374.641), Nippes (174.688), South East (158.150), West (149.099), North West (54.661) and in Artibonite (34.550).
