Thursday the United Nations (UN) confirmed that Saturday, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will travel to Haiti to visit the areas affected by the hurricane Matthew. Ban planning to visit with the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, particularly in teh city of Les Cayes, one of the hardest hit by the hurricane.

During his visit, the UN chief will meet with members of communities affected by the hurricane, government representatives and humanitarian workers, said his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, in a press conference.

Ban will arrive in Haiti from Washington, where he will travel on Friday to participate in several acts. After his visit to Haiti he will continue his journey to Ecuador to attend the United Nations conference on housing and sustainable urban development, known as "Habitat III".
