Haiti - NOTICE : The CEP advance the beginning of the electoral campaign 02/11/2016 09:14:49

The campaign period ends on November 18 at midnight. The Council took the opportunity to remind the leaders of parties, political groupings in general, and to candidates in particular, the provisions of sections 114 to 124 of Chapter VIII of the Decree dealing with the electoral campaign. The Council strongly encourages the parties, political groups and candidates to respect scrupulously the provisions of Article 116 of the Electoral Decree which reads as follows "During the election process, candidates and their supporters must observe a correct attitude. They must refrain from any incitement to violence and any act leading to jeopardize the life and property of the population subject to penalties under the Penal Code. The Government Commissioner or Judge of Peace, assisted by agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), regularly seized by the CEP, prosecutes."
