Haiti - Education : Fruitful mission to Washington D.C.
Tuesday ended a high-level meeting in Washington DC at the Inter-American Bank of Development (IDB) Headquarters, which was attended by Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Minister ofNational Education along with 80 representatives from Latin American and Caribbean countries around of commitments and prospects for strengthening cooperation in education and of new strategiesproposed inspired by experiments in the participating countries https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-19165-icihaiti-education-high-level-meeting-in-washington.html

During a working meeting with key officials of the IDB including the Division Chief in education around cooperation actions in education and post-Matthew monitoring, the Minister Dorsonne recalled the main expectations of his ministry from the IDB and the urgency of the moment, namely the resumption of school activities in the affected areas, with the rehabilitation of school infrastructure.

After the meeting, the Minister Dorsonne confirmed a new support of 10 million US dollars from the IDB for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of school infrastructure destroyed or damaged by the passage of Matthew on Haiti on 4 and 5 October. Stressing that other contributions are also expected for institutional strengthening with the cooperation programs for the training of executives.

Note that before leaving the US capital, Jean Beauvois Dorsonne paid a courtesy visit to the staff of the Embassy of Haiti in Washington.
