Haiti - Special elections : Polls open late, many voters #HaitiElections

This Sunday 6.2 million voters are called to the polls from 6:00 am to elect the future president, Haitian voters have to choose between 27 candidates for the presidency and must complete the parliament by the election of 16 senators (out of 30) and 25 deputies (out of 109).

As in previous elections, the CEP of Berlanger was unable to open the polling stations on time. At 6:30 this morning at the Canapé Vert the Voting centers were still not open despite a strong presence of voters, same situation at Croix-des-Bouquets where one of the voting centers was not open. The vote had not yet started at the national school Republic of the United States. The voting center of the Canapé-Vert market did not open on time, a strong presence of voters in waiting is noted.

The voting booths for this resumption of the elections are in marked improvement, protecting more the vote.

  • The adviser Marie Hérolle Michel, will be in the North ;

  • The adviser Jean Simon Saint Hubert, will be in the Northeast ;

  • The adviser Kenson Polynice, will be in the North-West ;

  • The Director of Electoral Operations Honorat Lemaire, will be in the department of the Center ;

  • Uder Antoine, Executive Director of the CEP, will be in Port-au-Prince. During the course of the elections, he will be in constant contact with members of his cabinet supervising operations in the department of Grand'Anse.

The CEP announced the establishment of an emergency unit, which includes a call center. Any person throughout the country who wishes to report any incident or an election offense may call 8838.
