No candidate wins the first round according to « Pitit Dessalin »
According to the platform "Pitit Dessalin" no candidate would have won the elections of 20 November in the first round. Passing away of rector Paquiot
The Ministry of National Education welcomes the memory of Professor Pierre Marie Paquiot, honored in May 2016 by the Ministry during the tribute ceremony for teachers. The Ministry bows to this emeritus professor who has devoted 41 years of his life to teaching. Sincere condolences to the tried family, to his colleagues, friends and all his students.

Declining attendance of representatives
Regarding the election day, the Citizen Observatory for the Institutionalization of Democracy (OCID) indicated "Observers have noted a smaller presence of representatives at the polling station level compared to the last elections. Indeed, there were at least 3 representatives of different parties and political groupings in 62.7% of the polling stations (versus 95% in October 2015) and 5 or more representatives of different political parties in 14.4% of polling stations (compared with 83.2% in October 2015). 10.2% of the polling stations had only one representative and 3.7% had none (against 1.1% and 1.3% respectively in October 2015). Among the parties most strongly represented at the polling stations were PHTK (71.6%), Fanmi Lavalas (54.4%), Pitit Dessalines (39.9%), LAPEH (39.1%), Renmen Ayiti (14.2%) and others (62%).

Elections : Declaration of France
On Wednesday at the press briefing, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development made the following statement: " France welcomes the smooth conduct of voting on November 20 and the efforts of the Haitian authorities to ensure that the entire population, including in the regions affected by Hurricane Matthew, were able to go the polls in a calm and transparent manner. Pending the publication of the results, France calls on all political actors to comply with electoral law."

Consulate of Miami closed
The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Miami informs the public in general and the Haitian community in particular that the Consulate will be closed from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 November 2016 on the occasion of Thanksgiving, holidays in the United States. Activities at the Consulate will normally resume on Monday 28 November from 8:00 a.m.
